Intro

01

Designing for stillness

For a doctor with a demanding schedule, home needed to be a place of complete rest. We pared the loft back to its essentials: soft light, honest materials and a single, restful colour story of olive, oat and oak.

Challenge

02

Order in an open plan

One continuous volume had to hold living, dining, work and storage without visual noise. Full-height oak joinery absorbs everything, while a bronze glass screen defines the dining room without closing it off.

The Oak Passage

Flush oak doors and herringbone floors draw the eye gently towards the dining room.

The Quiet Screen

A floating oak console and a wall-hung screen, softened by linen and northern light.

It is the quietest place I know, and it is mine.

Outcome

03

Space to breathe

The loft now feels larger, calmer and effortlessly ordered, a home where the mind can settle the moment the door closes.
